Examining the Importance of Organizational Behavior in Organizations

Organizational Behaviour is the study of human behaviour within the organization that is set at three different level: one is the study of behaviour between employees, another is study of behaviour of a group or a team and the third one is the behaviour study of the whole organization. The behaviour study of employees forms a part micro-level of study that helps to determine the internal environment of the organization on the basis of which organizational behaviour is judged or determined. According to Taylor, 2005, organizational behavior refers to the way the individual employee or group of employees behave within the organization. The behavior of employees and other stakeholders refers to the environment or climate in which the organization operates and the success of organization is determined. Maintenance of positive environment by the leaders further motivates the employees and helps them to maintain a healthy internal condition of the organization for better success.

Literature Review

In order to work in any organization (either small or big) some criteria are needed to be understood to work as per the need or environment of the organization. It is thus important to understanding the functioning of the company. But in reality human behavior is purely unpredictable so the same is in the case of organizations. This uncertainty in human behavior has developed the need of organizational behavior and the concept to be more crucial in itself. Jex, 2005 stated that organizational behavior is the understanding of the interaction between the individuals or groups. It is about how employees designated at different posts interact or behave with each other either for the purpose of work or on personal basis. The concept is valid and important for every organization either big/small or private/public. It is considered that only those who have knowledge of organization and management can understand the concept of organizational behavior. Organization is a system in itself in which activities are performed by the employees and there exist aninteraction between them to achieve the goals. Whereas management is the functionality process which is done with the help of others in order to achieve the goals.Technology, structure, people and external components – these factors form the basic elements for organizational behavior. People refer to the individuals or groups who all interact with the technology and the social elements of the organization. According to Miner, 2006, organizations serve people but not people serve to organizations. People interact in some structural way to fulfil the need of the organization.

Research Methodology

It is a technique adopted by the researcher to gather information and conclude the research work with valid information and support. There are two kinds of research methods that are adopted by researchers for collecting information regarding the research work and these are qualitative and quantitative. Quantitative researchmethod is logical and data-led approach in which the researcher conducts interviews and survey to collect information. And in qualitative research methodology the researchers used torefer case studies and interviews to work on achieving the aim for the research. In this dissertation, qualitative research methodology has been adopted in which certain questions have been prepared for the survey and these are:

  • What role does organizational behavior play for the success of organization?
  • What are the various approaches that comes under the category of organizational behavior and that help in maintaining human behavior?
  • What critical role is played by the different components of organizational behavior?
  • How the relationship between the components of organizational behavior affects the performance or success of the organization?

The researcher has referred to the case studies in order to effectively address the different situations, steps or concerns of organizational behavior. Interview of CEO of two different companies has been conducted by the researcher to study the crucial role played by organizational behavior. And 100 employees have been questioned (in the form of survey) regarding their views on role of organizational behavior in any organization or company.

Conclusion

Success of any organization is possible when there is coordination among the employees. Therefore, in order to ensure success of company, organizational behavior forms a necessary approach.
