Education, not wars will change the world

Image result for pen is mightier than sword

Strange as it may seem people have been discussing ‘peace’ since the immemorial. Amazingly they have been trying to achieve peace through wars and battles. Does it seem contrary to you? I fail to understand, how peace can be negotiated in the fields of war and terrorism.

I firmly believe that is only one weapon, if I may call it so, and that is education, which can help us attain peace in this world.

We have all heard the statement; education is the key to success, but does success only mean availability of worldly goods or is it something more? Nowadays, reading a newspaper is like reading terrorism in big huge letters. Combating terrorism is turning out to be the most difficult task for any action for any nation in the world to handle. People talk about changing the world, but no one talks about doing it peacefully. The individuals who terrorize the world in the name of religion or culture are the ones who are an atheist. Had they know the real meaning of worship, Iraq, Syria and many of them would not have faced such circumstances of helplessness, insecurity, and inhumanity. Broad-based cross-culture education aimed at improving outlooks and fighting fanaticism will yield a positive result in eliminating hatred from the face of this earth. Educating people in a way that promotes tolerance and respect for diversity and defenses will definite to go a long way in combating reasons of war. Education is the only way to propagate views that can oppose radicalism and extremism. Are we here in the world to witness the change or be the change we want to see? I must say that wars have the potential to change the world, but it is possible only when we are ready to accept the society with fanatics. Pen is the most powerful sword when it comes to deadliest weapons that can affect the masses. Why can’t we study peace as part of our curriculum? It is education, which will teach us that peace is not just absence of war, but a system of non-violence and cooperation. If we want a change in the society, we have to, as Malala Yousafazai said, ‘wage is glorious, the struggle against literacy, poverty, and ignorance; let us pick up our books and pens………  ‘Education is the only solution.’ Empowering ourselves with knowledge is important. Education is the means by which we can rid the world of injustice, prejudice, and racism. After all, the pen is the deadliest weapon that can make a change.
