This week you learned about servant leadership and adaptive leadership. The focus of these leadership styles are different. Servant leadership focuses on how the leader can serve their followers. Adaptive leadership focuses on encouraging people to adapt and face challenges and change. As you reflect on these two leadership styles, answer the following question:
How might servant and adaptive leadership styles work together to accomplish leading a team to success؟
Write 1 paragraph, 5-7 sentences discussing how Servant and Adaptive Leadership may work hand in hand.
Servant leadership is about serving the followers in their paths to grow. The focus here is the development of the people. People commit themselves in achieving goals of the organizing when they are exposed leader’s visions and commitment. On the other hand, adaptive leadership is perceived as “leadership as a socially complex and adaptive process” (DeRue, 2011). In adaptive leadership, the interaction between leaders and the followers progresses over time on the basis of the environment in which they both are working just as in any social interaction. The nature of the leader’s services becomes adaptive when servant leadership and adaptive leadership come together. A leader should be open to all the routes and paths that are necessary in the development of a follower and selects the best path that suits a follower. As a result, the followers will always remain upgraded, capable, empowered, passionate about their tasks. This will definitely improve their individual performance along with organizational performance.
