Is the Caterpillar a member of one or more supply chains? If yes, can you identify the major members of the supply chain(s)?

Caterpillar is the largest heavy equipment manufacturer and due this status its operations by default has to be large in size, Around the glove caterpillar works with more than 25000 dealers which is vast network itself to deal with.

Yes, we can say that Caterpillar is member of one or more supply chain where it works with backward supply chain in terms of receiving raw equipment’s from its supplier than assembling is done, second level of supply chain is selling those equipment through a large dealer network spread around the world where it has to ensure that the things should reach in fine condition and on time.

The biggest issue with the companies like this is that the product which they have to put in the supply chain is of large size which is either to be sent in a large ship and it has to match the minimum number of consignment also. Due to this issue they had to face long queue on the shipping ports. Which they resolved over the period of time.
