How this theory applies to our daily nursing practice ?

Dreikurs believed that all behavior is :

• Very Orderly
• Purposeful in nature
• Primarily Directed towards achieving the social approval

The social discipline model of Rudolf Dreikursuses the four primary premises of the theories of Adler’s, which can be concluded as:

• Human are social animals and they want to be motivated at every stage, for thembelongingness is the most effective and basic motivating tool.
• Every human is different and all the behaviour or acts performed by them have a purpose attached to it.
• human beings love making decision, though sometimes they find it hard to make various tough decisions. Hence, they can be termed as decision-makers.
• Humans generally believe in reality, they believe more in what they saw than what they have heard. They all have varied perception which can be biased, mistaken or judgmental. It all depends from person to person.

Dreikurs always said that children who misbehave at a very young age have a purpose behind it, and this theory of his became very famous. He always promoted a set of logical consequence over the basic culture of rewards and punishments. Dreikurs believed that children at a young age want to be accepted and in order to fit in they try and seek their place inside the group, they will they will easily fit in when they misbehave which is a very wrong notation.  After analyzing this, Dreikurs n formulated techniques to address the issue of misbehavior:

*Dreikurs suggested that :

• The present scenario requires a well structures and planned democratic teaching style. The style of the teaching must be totally revamped and the classroom study should be focused on real life scenario’s
• However, one drawback of this is that it may be extremely difficult to implement this with students who are tough to handle, and display difficult behaviour patterns. These sort of children are generally termed as troubled children who require special care.

The main causes of misbehavior which were identified by Dreikurs are as follows:

• Attention-seeking problem
• The student who has generally never been in the limelight wants to be regularly focused
• A common problem of this is the power-seeking problem
• Student in their teenage want to impose their thoughts and their will regularly
• They have this habit of Revenge-seeking
• In today’s extra competitive world, students fear failure and to avoid their chances of failure they behave in a certain way.
• The inadequate feeling which a student goes through

Hence, this theory clearly states that all the actions which are performed by the child, are ultimately linked to his or her need to belong to the group and fit in.

*Dreikurs identified the two main types of consequences, which are:

• Logical consequence: This involves student to first analyse the wrong decision he has made and then find out ways how to make the wrong decisions right immediately.
• Natural consequence: These are the results which naturally follow the causes of misbehavior

Thus we should not judge a child if the child misbehaves, as there is always a reason behind such a behaviour. Rather we should motivate children not behave in such a manner.
