What are Important differences between software project management and other types of project management?
Software Project Management: As the name suggests, the software project management in the art and science of planning and leading various software projects. It is one of the main sub-divisions of the project management in which projects related to software are first planned, then implemented, the entire process in monitored and finally controlled.
Though the baseline and theme of any project generally remains the same, they are built and they function on the same foundation, but the functionality and end term goal is different for different projects. Software management project is the project which is least likely like the other projects and is very different from all the other projects, The difference between software project management and other types of project management are as follows:
- Tangibility: Tangle means something which can be touched, felt, seen, observed etc.m various intangible means which cannot be touched, felt, seen or observed. An example of intangible is ‘Services’. This is one of the main difference between software project and various other projects, All the other types of project have an existence and can be seem, where as software project which is in the technological bracket acts like a services which does not have an existence and can’t be seen. For example, let’s talk about a construction project, this is very much existential and the project manager can from time to time measure the progress of the project and analyse the project as it can be seen. However in case of a software project it becomes difficult to comment upon the progress of the project that is because it is the codes of the softwares which are written in different forms.
- Software projects are more flexible when it comes to making the changes, the project manager can anytime make changes to the project according to the need of the hour, however, in case of any other project there is hardly any room for changes. The plan and the process are so rigid that it is impossible to make the slightest of change.
Software projects in the long run will always be more profitable and useful than any other project, hence they are more desirable.
