Introduction:-
The conscious planning of one’s activity and engagements in a job which a person undertakes in his life for growth, better fulfillment and financial stability is known as career management.
Main Body:-
The task of fitting in new work culture can create problems and challenges which can be frustrating at times. You get to know about the working teams and co-workers working on a similar project. These activities usually promote a common interest, building trusts and allies. You should ask questions in case you do not understand something. Be friendly and give respect to others. Your professional qualities can be seen through your good attitude and work habits. Always stay away from the office gossip.
Being Heard- Gaining the trust of your co-workers is a time-consuming process. You should always observe and listen to them before suggesting changes. The solution should be taken to the table. Build interest and engage your co-workers to come up with new ideas. You should work on building your reputation of being clear-headed, objective and reasonable among the co-workers.
Making Mistakes– This may happen knowingly or unknowingly. You should admit them and apologize immediately. Never give excuses or try to cover them up. Offer a solution to fix the problem on your own time. Always forgive yourself and try to move on.
Time Management- Settling into a new job becomes difficult at times. Create a daily “to do” or goal list. Properly manage the time and complete the goal within the time. Always keep your work organised as it will help you to be more efficient and productive. In case you face difficulty in managing the workload, take help from a co-worker or speak with your supervisor to prioritize your work.
Slackers– productivity is affected by slackers. If your co-workers have a poor work habit and it is affecting your job performance, then explain them peacefully about their work-habits. Also, ask them to change it so that the company’s products do not get affected. Always keep in mind that it is your responsibility to deal with your co-worker’s work behavior. Concentrate on being a good employee and avoid falling into the poor work routine.
Disagreeable Co-workers– These types of employees usually create an unpleasant work situation. Avoid arguing with them, stay pleasant and help them when necessary. Even if they do something wrong, do not get into a fight with them. Talk calmly about their bad behavior to them in private. Do not involve your supervisor unless it’s the only option left.
Office Bullies– Office bullies create excess anxiety and stress. They often target a single person and humiliate them. Never isolate yourself because of them. Take a stand for yourself. Do not get down to their level. Discuss the problem with a mentor to find the best way to handle them if you’re their target, then you should report it to the supervisor.
Gossiper and Trouble Makers- The can create misunderstanding and can be disruptive for the workplace. Keep yourself busy so and let them realize that you have better work to do. Never comment on anything; it will add fuel to their behavior.
Whiners and Complainers- They tend to see the negative face of everything. This attitude can affect the moral values. Put the problem back on them but be empathetic always. Their intentions should be known, and the solution must be found out to overcome it. Complaining is the step taken by them to avoid conflicts and release stress about the things or simply to get attention. Do not get into their problems and also, do not turn their complaints into office gossip either.
Saboteurs and Backstabbers– They create the distrust by spreading rumors and withholding information from those they see as rivals. Your reputation and career goal are affected by them. Calmly handle them and these situations. Confront them calmly about their behavior and never get into their games. If you have a good idea about anything, contact the supervisor so that you get the credit you deserve. Always stay in contact with the supervisor because even if someone is trying to ruin your image, you will get to know about it.
