What is the difference between music-agent and manager?
The significant difference between an agent and a manager is that the manager does not need any licence from the governing body. In contrast, agents have to be licensed by the governing body. The agents bring contracts from different parties to the manager. The manager is involved in negotiating the contracts. The agents do not have the negotiating powers which a manager has. So, the main task of the agents is to find out the gigs for the manager who will further negotiate and lead.
For being a manager, the only need is to find a client. On the other hand, to become an agent, one has to follow through the procedure set by the state laws for becoming a licensed music agent. Hence, the agents are more sophisticated in this domain, whereas managers are generic with a view of management. Therefore, how these two differ from each other.
