How do you define leadership? You might consider the following polarizations when thinking about how you define leadership: Is leadership about the results or the process? Does leadership have to be for good? Are leaders born or made? Is leadership positional or everywhere?
In my opinion, leadership is one’s ability to lead group of people or one’s ability to carry a group of people to achieve a common goal.
Leadership is an ongoing process. No leader can say that he is perfect and can tackle any challenges. It will be wrong. Leadership is a learning process.
Leadership has to be good because behavior of subordinates’ depends on their leader. A good nature, supportive and cheerful leader maintains a healthy working environment for its followers. Hence it is very important for the leader to be good because team members are following him.
Some are born leaders while others learn from experience. Born leaders also need experience to control the team. It does not mean that the leaders are born with experience. For an example there is a conflict between team members, to solve it without spoiling team spirit and integrity. It comes with experience. When a person joins an organization to lead a team, initially he struggles but with time he learns to work under pressure and his leadership skills improves day by day. Leadership is an art and it can be learnt. There is no rule that leaders are born only and cannot be made.
Leadership is everywhere. An individual is a leader of his own body parts. He/she has to learn how to control body parts. Leadership is practiced in family, company, country, state, friendship etc.
