As part of the formal assessment for the programme you are required to submit a Principles of Marketing assessment. Please refer to your Student Handbook for full details of the programme assessment scheme and general information on preparing and submitting assignments.

Learning Outcomes:

After completing the module, you should be able to:

  1. 1)  Explain the marketing process, with particular reference to orientation, environmental analysis and the marketing planning process.

  2. 2)  Distinguish the contribution of the elements of the extended marketing mix to effective marketing planning.

  3. 3)  Use the concepts of segmentation, targeting and positioning to respond to marketing problems.

  4. 4)  Apply the extended marketing mix.

  5. 5)  Show situational awareness in applying the extended marketing mix.

Assignment Task: Assessment

You have been selected to be interviewed for the role of Marketing Manager. The company that you may be working for is serious about expanding within the competitive market place. As part of your interview you will have to do a presentation on the following areas but firstly the company would like you to submit a report on: -

  1. 1)  The processes involved in marketing orientation.

  2. 2)  An outline of the advantages of marketing planning and the benefit of conducting an analysis of the environment.

  3. 3)  How the 7p’s differ from the 4p’s in the marketing mix?
