Task 2:

Develop an Operational Plan

Consider your current or previous workplace where you would like to develop an operational plan. You do not have to nominate the company and you can disguise any confidential information, but the assessor needs to be able to understand what you wish to do.

Please be mindful that you do not design a strategic plan, or a project. The operational plan needs to be large enough that it could require additional physical and human resources. In some cases it will be acceptable to answer what you would or should do, if you are unable to actually do part of the work asked of you.

a. Explain the research and analysis you have undertaken on the resource requirements for the plan

b. Show how you supported the obtaining of these resources by seeking extra information and/ or specialist advice

Consultation process

Show the process you used for consultation for the plan

KPI

Develop at least two SMART KPIs for the plan that measure profit/ production targets. One KPI should be for the final result, and another for an intermediate result, so tracking to target can be made (if this isn’t possible, two KPIs for the final target will be sufficient, but an explanation as to why an intermediate target is unsuitable should be made)

Contingency

Develop at least one contingency plan and explain how it would be implemented.

Approval process

Outline the approval process for your plan.

Legislation

Outline any legislative and regulatory considerations relevant to your operational plan to the organisation.

2.9

Policy

List at least one policy and one procedure (other than recruitment and purchasing) that your organisation has (or should have) that relate to your operational plan.

Informing others

Explain how you would inform the relevant work teams about the plan.

Task 3:

Obtain resources

Assume that you will need to hire additional people and also obtain additional physical resources.

Hiring

If your workplace has existing policies, practices and procedures for hiring and inducting new employees, outline in your own words what they are here. Make sure your answer explains the steps to implement the procedure OR

If your workplace does not existing policies, practices and procedures for hiring new and inducting employees, develop a policy and procedure. It does not have to be incredibly lengthy, but make sure it is in your own words

3.3

Acquiring the resources

For your plan, detail the physical resources or services you will need and explain how you will acquire them in accordance with your workplace’s policy and procedure.

3.4

IP

For both human and physical resources, there should be some consideration into acquiring and or protecting intellectual property. Outline what these are for your operational plan.
